Welcome to Carmarthenshire Childrens' Centre
In 1999, a group of professionals working with children in West Wales formed an association called “Friends of Canolfan Plant” to raise funds to build a specialist Childrens' Centre, for the care and treatment of seriously ill children and their families.
The dream was to create a facility where sick children could be treated, with the support of their families in a family friendly environment. This then would end the days of constant visits to hospitals across the principality where various specialists were located, and would allow families to receive all of their treatments in one centrally located facility.
Years of planning, negotiation, and fundraising have now reached a point where the Charity “Canolfan Plant Sir Gar” is at last in a position to complete the final design of the centre, and invite tenders for its construction.
The centre which will cost an estimated £1.8 million will be the most modern children’s care facility in Wales, and is expected to be completed by the end of 2011.
To date over £800,000 has been raised and the Staff and Trustees are about to embark on a major fundraising initiative to generate the remaining funds necessary to complete the construction and equip the centre.
Flying start for 2010 Appeal
Chief Executive of Canolfan Plant, Gordon Anderson today announced an £800,000 "flying start" to the 2010 appeal to raise £1.8 million for the new Childrens' Centre in Carmarthen.
Gordon said, "this is great news for the staff and trustees as it enables us to guarantee to our donors that EVERY PENNY of their donations will go directly to the construction fund for the new centre. There will be no deductions for administration etc due the fact that all our overheads for the next two years are already funded."
